Neighbors at Gilpin Township hearing urge strict conditions and clear penalties for short-term rentals

The board and hearing officer responded that police would be called for criminal or nuisance activity and that the board can include restrictions or review rights in factual findings if it grants the conditional use.
Supporters countered that the applicant has rehabilitated a blighted property and that surveillance cameras and platform ratings (on Airbnb) provide some safeguards. Speakers were split but the hearing included both concrete requests for enforceable conditions and expressions of support for the property’s cleanup.
