After reconvening from executive session May 27, the Abernathy ISD board approved hiring two professional staff members on 11-month probationary contracts for the 2025–26 school year.
Manuel Adames Jr. moved to employ Bridget Horsford on an 11-month probationary contract for the 2025–26 school year; David Carver seconded and the motion passed with the vote recorded as Yea: 5, Nay: 0, Absent: 1, and Ty Horsford recorded as "Abstain (With Conflict)." The minutes state the motion as: “I move to employ Bridget Horsford on an 11-Month Probationary Contract for the 2025-2026 school year at the board approved salary schedule.”
The board also moved to employ Cody Coyle on an 11-month probationary contract; that motion, made by Mike Magallanes and seconded by Manuel Adames Jr., passed with six trustees voting yea and one absent. The minutes do not list positions or salary amounts beyond indicating the hires are on the board-approved salary schedule.
