Abernathy ISD names Ed Sharp interim superintendent and approves teacher hires

After meeting in executive session for personnel matters, the Abernathy ISD Board on May 12 voted unanimously to appoint Ed Sharp as interim superintendent, to assume duties as early as Monday, June 2, 2025, with an option to begin as a consultant as early as Tuesday, May 13, 2025. "I move to name Ed Sharp an interim superintendent of schools to assume duties as early as Monday, June 2, 2025...and to authorize the Board president to execute an agreement to employ such person," said Matt Miller, who made the motion; the motion passed 7–0.
The board also acted on personnel hires for the 2025–2026 school year, approving employment of Danielle Rosales, Lacey Leon, Megan Speer, and Jacob Cline on 10-month probationary contracts and renewing Molly Hicks on a 12-month probationary contract at the board-approved salary schedule. These actions were approved by roll call and recorded in the minutes.
