District leaders report on testing, curriculum planning and career pathways

Ritchie Thornton, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, told the board the TIA designation submission had been approved for the past year and that the district will receive the allotment amount this spring and communicate details to teachers. Assistant principals detailed benchmarking and upcoming STAAR planning at the elementary and middle levels, while high school staff described SAT School Day, Adulting Day for seniors, and efforts to expand health-science career pathways.
School leaders also reported extracurricular successes: the middle school's regional TMSCA meet qualified 15 students for state, the high school earned 90 First Division medals with 58 qualifiers for UIL State Solo & Ensemble, and one remaining ensemble audition was scheduled. District staff said they are researching a new reading curriculum for possible fall implementation.
