The Planning Board approved a wetlands permit on Aug. 5 to allow slope-stabilization work at properties addressed as 36 Cliff Avenue and 50 Dumas Avenue. Civilworks New England representative Duncan Mellor told the board that waves from January 2024 storms overtopped the seawall and initiated a slope failure that endangered a structure and the septic system, and that the proposed repairs will increase bank stability and reduce impermeable area in the tidal buffer.
Mellor described access for construction from the lawn area and said the project team will remove a concrete slab behind the seawall. He said the applicants are awaiting NHDES approval and expect to begin work in the fall or winter if permits are granted. Board members confirmed the applicants have agreed to Conservation Commission stipulations and the permit was approved 7-0-0.
