Planning staff reported an increase in zoning activity compared with the previous year and briefed commissioners on multiple projects moving through review.
"We're at 268 zoning permits right now compared to 247," staff said, noting 47 single-family dwelling permits this year versus 37 at the same point last year. Staff also listed projects either under review or recently permitted, including permits issued for Bowling Green Fire Station Nos. 1 and 3, rebuilding of Village 2 apartments at 311 Parkview, a Chipotle proposal at 1187 South Main that will need a variance, an Antibus Scales and Barcode Systems warehouse at West Newton Road, and a Menards application for 1220 South Main filed the day before.
Staff additionally reported subdivision activity at Saint Springs Plat 2 and ongoing work on Chapter 151 subdivision-regulation updates led by Zoneco, with a target to finish final draft chapters by the end of the month. Commissioners were asked to monitor these projects as they relate to the future land-use plan and design standards updates.
