Planning staff reported the commission's zoning-board representative was absent and summarized three matters heard by the zoning board of appeals on July 8.
According to staff, Dan Abdo with Joseph Development requested a variance to allow an 18-foot-8-inch commercial building at 1187 South Main that would have been below the 25-foot minimum structure height; that request "did not pass as it was a 3 to 3 vote," staff said. Patrick Shea of Vandico Signs sought a monument-sign variance at 1072 North Main that would have exceeded the 64-square-foot maximum; that request failed on a 4–2 vote. The board unanimously approved Alan Davis's request to widen a driveway at 1723 Wexford Drive by up to 5 feet over the maximum width permitted.
The staff recap did not indicate further appeals or next steps for the failing variances; commissioners were informed of the outcomes for their information.
