Village approves Greenlight Networks POP site agreement for Village Hall

The Highland Falls board authorized the mayor to sign a point-of-presence (POP) site agreement with Greenlight Networks to host fiber equipment on the third floor of Village Hall and collect $500 per month in rent. Mark, a Greenlight representative, described approved Hudson Valley pricing of $45 a month for 500 Mbps and $55 for 1 Gbps, said the company will submeter and reimburse electrical use, and noted prior village deals in Walden, Goshen and Washingtonville.
Trustees questioned whether infrastructure would be run underground in this hilly area and whether volunteer fire departments might receive complimentary service; Greenlight said access would be Bluetooth-controlled and that the company often partners with fire departments and reimburses electrical use via a submeter. The motion to authorize the mayor to sign the POP agreement carried by voice vote.
