At the Aug. 18 public and special meeting, the Aransas Pass ISD Board adopted a property tax rate of $0.8088 per $100 of assessed value. The district recorded that the proposed rate represents an effective 4% increase relative to the no‑new‑revenue maintenance and operations rate; the minutes also show the rate broken down as $0.6969 for maintenance and operations and $0.1119 for interest and sinking.
Trustee Terry Stansberry moved to adopt the tax rate; John Mullenax seconded and the motion passed 6–0 (one trustee absent). On the same agenda the board approved a call to order of a Voter‑Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) authorizing administration to take steps required under law.
The board also approved joint election agreements with San Patricio County, Aransas County and Nueces County to provide election services related to the VATRE, and approved a resolution authorizing defeasance and redemption of certain district obligations. In addition, trustees approved a $44,222 donation from the APISD Education Foundation to fund Innovative Teaching Grants and a student‑led beautification project. All motions were recorded with recorded votes in the Aug. 18 minutes.
The actions set the district on a path to put the VATRE before voters and to execute necessary election contracts; the meeting record does not include the date scheduled for the VATRE, only the authorization to proceed and the county election agreements.
