Board approves Walgreens shadowing, culinary classes with Sustainable Food Center and Calvin University affiliation
Summary
Bastrop ISD approved an MOU with Walgreens for unpaid pharmacy-tech shadowing hours, an MOU with Sustainable Food Center (The Happy Kitchen) to provide family cooking classes on campus, and an affiliation agreement with Calvin University for clinical education internships.
The board unanimously approved three agreements that formalize partnerships for student experiences and family programming. Dr. Amanda Brantley described an MOU with Walgreens that will allow students who complete the Pharmacy Technician program's instruction and certification preparation to complete unpaid shadowing and observation hours at Walgreens as part of state certification requirements.
Patricia Flores presented an MOU with the Sustainable Food Center (The Happy Kitchen) to provide kitchen space at a campus for family cooking and nutrition education aimed at emergent bilingual families. Derek Eberly presented an affiliation agreement with Calvin University to host clinical educational internships for life-sciences education students. Each agreement was approved following presentation and motion; no dissent was recorded.
