Goshen resident urges county moratorium on data centers over noise and water concerns

Jean Borglum of Goshen used her privilege of the floor to urge Elkhart County to adopt a moratorium on data centers until companies can demonstrate they will not create nuisances or environmental harms. Borglum cited concerns about noise, wildlife impacts, wetland destruction and the effect on local wells and water use.
"I would like to see the Elkhart County come up with a moratorium on data centers...they need to prove that they can stop a lot of their problems like sound issues and effects on wildlife, people, animals," Borglum said. Commissioners acknowledged the comment; no formal action or referral was recorded during the meeting.
