The Shelby County Commission approved Resolution 2026-07-27-08 to apply for the Alabama Department of Transportation FY2027 Local Roads Safety Initiative (LRSI) grant. The county identified a site along County Road 13 for safety improvements and estimated the project cost at $300,000.
The commission agreed to fund a local matching share equal to 20% of any grant award, up to $60,000. Commissioner Lindsey Allison moved to approve the grant application and Commissioner Robbie Hayes seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Staff will pursue the grant application and, if awarded, coordinate project design and construction with ALDOT and county road crews.
