The Mesquite ISD Board approved a slate of personnel actions and a budget amendment during the meeting.
Trustees approved an administrative contract for the district's Executive Director of Facilities; administration identified Daniel Contreras as the appointee and Mr. Contreras, who has served the district for more than 32 years, thanked trustees and family. The board also approved combined contract renewals for the deputy superintendent, assistant superintendents, chief officers, internal auditor, executive directors, principals and athletic coordinators. Motions were made and adopted by voice vote.
Separately, the business officer presented budget amendment No. 2, which included capturing an approximately $3,100,000 expense in the general operating fund to pay the last payment of state pay and recognizing debt-service entries related to an August 2025 bond refunding that refunded 2014 and 2015 series. Administration confirmed total savings from the refunding were about $3,000,000. Trustees approved the budget amendment by motion (moved by Mr. Bingham, seconded by Mr. Seward) and took the action by voice vote.
The board also approved the superintendent's evaluation and contract renewal after reconvening from executive session; that combined action passed by voice vote.
