"The thought would be to vote in December 2026 and submit with the design, which will take about a year to SED in January '28," said the project executive, outlining the pre-referendum tasks and an earlier June 2026 internal decision point to authorize scope for SED submission. Staff said an approximately $18M project may be achievable with debt drop-off and without tax impact, while a longer-term facility-condition outlook produced much larger seven-year estimates (a figure discussed in the presentation was about $194M) for fully addressing all campus needs.
Board members stressed clarity on essentials versus desirable items and recommended using a ThoughtExchange community survey to front-load resident preferences on scope and priorities before finalizing the proposition. The superintendent and trustees discussed balancing taxpayer impact with pressing mechanical, envelope and program-driven needs.
No formal ballot action was taken at the meeting; the board expects a sequence of presentation, community engagement and further board decisions between now and the summer to finalize scope for SED submission.
