County bridge repairs set to begin; Monte Rio RPD coordinates with Sonoma Land Trust on trail acquisition

Administrator Marina McTaggart said the County scheduled repairs for the Main Street Bridge to begin Aug. 12 and that the county is onboarding a new consultant for the retrofit of the Monte Rio (Bohemian Hwy) Bridge; public outreach around the retrofit is expected to start in early 2025. Staff also reported ongoing communication with Ag + Open Space, Sonoma Land Trust and Regional Parks about trails projects and the potential SWS/Starrett Hill acquisition; Sonoma Land Trust expressed interest in presenting to the board and staff may call a special closed session to discuss next steps.
Board members and staff agreed to continue coordination with external partners and to consider public outreach timing. No formal decisions or contracts were recorded at the meeting; staff will follow up with partners regarding presentations and potential scheduling.
