Tool-shed break-in, community-center security and Amphitheater camera discussed

The Sept. 11 committee minutes record a Sept. 3 break-in of the district tool shed that resulted in approximately $3,000 of equipment stolen (weed wacker, chainsaw); a police report was filed and the committee discussed installing two Nest cameras near the parking area and restrooms. Committee members also described a Labor Day security breach at the Community Center in which ADT reported alarm triggers and staff found youths inside the building; the minutes describe how access may have been gained and called for staff communication about ensuring doors are firmly closed.
At the Oct. 14 board meeting Director Allison Baumhefner raised the Amphitheater camera topic; Park Supervisor Leslie Hofelich explained the single camera (installed during a rash of arson fires) points toward the creek behind the playhouse, requires batteries to be operational, and works with two LED lights as a vandal deterrent. The board agreed in general to energize the camera and post signage informing the public that cameras are in use.
The minutes record no arrests or recoveries from the toolshed theft and do not specify funding for additional cameras; committee and staff follow-up were recommended.
