Monte Rio committee discusses roof bids, parking safety, cameras and skatepark upgrades

At the Aug. 7 Facilities & Safety Committee meeting, Park Supervisor Leslie Hofelich said the district is soliciting bids to replace the second half of the community center roof—the portion that was not replaced when solar panels were installed. The committee discussed three roof bids (received for the full project) and agreed to continue work on estimates and contractor selection. Leslie also said the parking lot at the Community Center will be restriped next week at an estimated cost of $400.
The committee reported new gym lights have been installed at the gym at the expense of the Monte Rio Fire Foundation. Leslie said doors at the Amphitheater Youth Center (Empowerment Center) need replacement and staff will obtain estimates; additional cameras have been installed at the outside restrooms to deter misuse. Staff also noted the skatepark rules sign was stolen and will be replaced; Administrator Marina McTaggart said $20,000 in District 5 funding for additional skatepark improvements has been received and the district is considering a ribbon-cutting or grand re-opening.
