Counsel to clarify road ownership with Village of Estero; engineer flags damaged flow-way plug

District counsel will send letters to the Village of Estero and county counsel regarding ownership and maintenance responsibility for the road west of U.S. 41 to the Clubhouse; the district engineer also reported a damaged plug separating two flow-way basins and will ask MRI to re-establish it.
At the staff-report section, Lenore Brakefield read the Village of Estero’s position that it does not need to maintain the road west of U.S. 41 to the Clubhouse, while District Counsel Tony Pires said he believes the county is responsible for the road. Mr. Pires will send a letter to the Village of Estero and the County’s counsel stating the Village owns the road; Mr. Willis previously emailed Johnson Engineering documents confirming ownership to Mr. Pires on Nov. 20, 2024.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reported he thinks a plug separating two flow-way basins was damaged during flow-way clearing and that water is flowing from CB-199 (behind 20855 Glen Eagles Links Drive); he will forward the information to Mrs. Adams for MRI to review and re-establish the plug. The Board also discussed vegetation and conservation-area boundary staking for mangrove trimming and possible vegetation clearing subject to SFWMD approval.
