District counsel reiterates view on Corkscrew Road ownership; village hires engineering study

District counsel Tony Pires reported that, after retrieving documents, his opinion regarding ownership of the portion of Corkscrew Road west of U.S. 41 had not changed. The item remains under study as local agencies review past memoranda and documents to clarify ownership and maintenance responsibilities.
Chair Bob Schultz said the Village of Estero engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets and walkways to determine needed repairs and ownership responsibilities. PSGRC President Neil Collins said recent town-hall meetings have focused on the intersection at U.S. 41 and the east side of Corkscrew Road; Mr. Wilhems confirmed the study will include the west side as well.
