Montecito Sanitary District approves consent calendar; reappointment vote sees split then approval

The Board then considered a purchase order for a Ford F-150 Hybrid (Consent Item D). Director Ohlmann moved the item, seconded by Director Newquist, and the measure passed unanimously (AYES: Barrett, Johnson, Newquist, Ohlmann, Rockenbach).
Consent Item E (reappointment of the General Manager and District Legal Counsel) prompted debate. A motion by Director Newquist, seconded by Director Barrett, to defer the item failed on a 3–2 vote (ayes: Barrett and Newquist; nays: Johnson, Ohlmann, Rockenbach). The Board then adopted a motion by Director Ohlmann, seconded by Director Rockenbach, to approve the reappointments. That motion carried with four ayes (Barrett, Johnson, Ohlmann, Rockenbach) and one abstention (Director Newquist).
Finally, on Consent Item F, Director Barrett moved and Director Johnson seconded authorization for President Rockenbach to attend Legislative Advocacy Days. The motion passed with four ayes and President Rockenbach recorded as abstaining.
