The Big Spring Independent School District Board of Trustees on Aug. 29 adopted a tax rate of $0.7283 per $100 of market value for tax year 2024, a split of $0.6669 for maintenance and operations and $0.0614 for interest and sinking.
"Susan Bryan presented a Tax Resolution that sets the tax rate for the 2024 tax year at $0.7283 per $100 of market value," the minutes state. Susan Bryan, listed among district administration, facilitated the public hearing before the board voted. The public hearing opened at 5:19 p.m. and closed at 5:22 p.m.; the record shows no public comments.
Tonya Becker moved to adopt the rate and Alton McGruder seconded; the motion carried 6–0. The board’s adoption formalizes the rate the district will use to calculate property taxes for the coming year and was recorded as Motion #6065 in the meeting minutes.
The hearing and vote followed staff presentation of the resolution during a special meeting that began at 5:15 p.m. and adjourned at 5:57 p.m.
