Public works reports: drain repair, new hire, water tests approved, and turkey-vulture removal estimate

Resident Kristi Sittner raised concerns about a drain on Fir Street between Monroe and Madison. City Engineer Brian Schuele and Utility Superintendent Zach Fergus inspected the location and said the repair would be similar to a prior inlet repair; Schuele will include an estimated cost with the street plans later in the year.
Fergus also reported personnel and utility updates: Ricky Skillett was hired as Public Works Worker I and started at the end of February; all water and wastewater tests submitted to labs were approved. Fergus estimated the cost to remove roosting turkey vultures from the water tower would be about $300. Separately, the council scheduled the annual Clean Up Day for April 25, 2026, from 8 a.m. to noon.
