Board approves student trips, TK model contract and small grants

The Board approved several student-enrichment and grant items at the March 4 meeting. The Board ratified overnight/out-of-state study trips: up to 24 Suva Intermediate students to the Pali Institute (March 4–6, 2026), up to 24 La Merced Academy students to the Pali Institute (April 20–22, 2026), and up to 75 Bella Vista Elementary students to Catalina Island Marine Institute (March 20–22, 2026). Transportation will be provided by district buses; funding for these trips was identified from ELO-P and related accounts.
The Board accepted a $466.30 donation from U'SAGAIN, LLC for Joseph A. Gascon Elementary and ratified contract #604087 with the Los Angeles County Office of Education for participation in the Transitional Kindergarten Model Classroom Initiative (Feb. 19, 2026–June 30, 2028). LACOE will provide funding not to exceed $14,000 ($7,000 per classroom for two classrooms) for furniture and instructional materials aligned with Universal Prekindergarten goals.
