Board approves two OAH settlement agreements in closed session; votes 3‑0‑2

During closed session on Jan. 21 the Montebello Unified Board considered existing litigation matters under Government Code §54956.9 related to Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) cases. After reconvening, legal counsel Norma Copado reported that the board approved two Final Settlement Agreements by motions taken in closed session.
The first item (Compromise and Release Agreement: 211163 v. MUSD; consolidated OAH case nos. 2025070724 and 2025100167) was approved following briefing; a motion by Board Member Carlos Cerdan, seconded by Clerk Elizabeth Cabrera, passed 3‑0‑2 with President Liliana Magana and Board Member Marisol Uribe absent. The second item (Compromise and Release Agreement: 232617 v. MUSD, OAH Case No. 2025070870) was similarly briefed; Clerk Cabrera moved, Vice President Gutierrez seconded, and the motion passed 3‑0‑2. Norma Copado indicated information concerning these matters will be maintained with Student Services.
No other reportable final actions were taken in closed session. The meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
