Board backs state CSESAP match for classified employees for 2026–27

The Montebello Unified School District Board of Education voted Jan. 21 to approve Resolution No. 11 (2025-2026) to participate in the Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program (CSESAP) for fiscal year 2026–27.
Assistant Superintendent Zepure Hacopian presented the program overview, which the agenda describes as a state program that "apportions funds for the 2026-2027 fiscal year for districts to provide participating classified employees up to one dollar ($1) for each dollar ($1) match on amounts withheld from the employee's monthly paychecks during the 2026-2027 fiscal year." The resolution commits the district to pay withheld classified employee amounts and the state match to eligible employees in the summer months following 2026–27. School districts electing to participate must notify classified employees by Jan. 1, 2026 and the California Department of Education by April 1, 2026.
Clerk Elizabeth Cabrera moved approval; Carlos Cerdan seconded. Vice President Jennifer Gutierrez called the roll and the four board members present voted "Aye" (Ms. Magana absent). The motion carried and the resolution was filed with the official minutes.
