Environmental Advisory Council reports outreach, pollinator work and upcoming library event

Dr. Lynnette Saunders, chair of the Environmental Advisory Council, told the committee the EAC staffed an information table at the first annual "Tweet and Greet" at Pennypack Ecological Trust on Sunday, June 14, and is brainstorming Bird Town events for the community.
Saunders outlined recent stewardship work — weeding at the native wet meadow at Pileggi Park and maintenance of the pollinator garden at the library — and asked the township to follow up on Fair Oaks Basin plantings, installation of trees at the Dog Park and water bottle filling stations at Masons Mill Park. She also announced an "Extraordinary Caterpillar" program at the library on August 1 featuring live Monarch and Black Swallowtail caterpillars, chrysalises and a native plant giveaway. Parks & Recreation Director Katie Kollar will follow up on the maintenance and installation items and staff noted a website redesign is forthcoming to update EAC and Historical Commission pages.
