Brenham ISD completes first-year TIA data capture; district weighs administrative and retirement costs

Administrators reported that Brenham ISD completed its first year of Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) data capture. "We submitted our application last spring 2025, and then it was approved the summer of 2025," Sarah (speaker 7) told trustees, adding that the district collected classroom observations and student-growth measures and will submit the data to the state in October; the state should notify the district by February about teacher designations and potential payments effective the following school year.
Region 6 and district staff cautioned trustees that the allotment is performance-based and that the district must budget for associated costs: the state allows districts to retain about 10% for administration, but staff estimated the actual district cost to be closer to 13–14% once benefits and retirement contributions are included. Administration said it will include those projected costs in upcoming budget scenarios.
