Bridge City ISD accepts grants, agrees to spend up to $450,000 on band instruments

During the Jan. 23 meeting trustees were informed of several donations and grants and took action to accept some funds. "Bridge City ISD received $3000 in grant funds from the Stark Foundation to purchase clothing, toiletries, and school supplies for underprivileged students in the district. Bridge City Middle School received a $1624.06 donation from the Holocaust Museum Houston for student travel expenses to visit the museum." The board approved those donations by motion moved by Paul Zoch and seconded by Mark Anderson; the motion carried unanimously.
Separately, the board discussed band program needs and "agreed to spend up to $450,000 to purchase new band instruments and equipment at the discretion of the Band Director." The minutes record the decision and the amount; the Band Director was not named in the minutes and will administratively manage purchases per the board's direction.
