Ms. Ann Marie Shelton reported: “the district has been approved for Phase 2 of the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) which means that 234 teachers will receive the TIA stipend. These designations come with a one-time stipend payment ranging from $3,000 to $16,000 per teacher. In total, this represents $1,866,211 in additional compensation for BISD teachers.” The district has submitted a final TIA Expansion Application to the Texas Education Agency to include remaining teacher groups.
Shelton also said the district was selected by TEA and Region 1 as a TIA Texas SLO Model School District and will receive ongoing support at no cost to the district, a designation the minutes say positions BISD as a leader in TIA implementation.
