Trustee Daniella Lopez Valdez appointed to Cameron County Appraisal District board in 6-1 vote

The Brownsville Independent School District Board of Trustees on Oct. 1 approved Resolution #021/2024-2025 appointing Trustee Daniella Lopez Valdez to the Cameron County Appraisal District Board of Directors. President Jessica Gonzalez nominated Lopez Valdez and Marisa Leal seconded the motion.
The motion passed with six trustees in favor and one opposed. The board recorded yea votes from Carlos Elizondo, Denise Garza, Daniella Lopez Valdez, Eddie Garcia, Jessica Gonzalez and Marisa Leal; Frank Ortiz voted no. President Gonzalez thanked outgoing appointee Eddie Garcia for serving the two-year term prior to the appointment.
The appointment was taken during the Change Order of the Day portion of the meeting after public comments and routine reports. No additional conditions were announced at the time of the vote. The board then returned to its consent agenda to consider other routine items.
