City staff proposed amending the consultant contract with Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (formerly Peak Sustainability Group), increasing the total contract from $91,000 to $101,000 to cover additional costs tied to public outreach, statutory compliance, greenhouse gas analysis, and drafting a required Climate Element for the Comprehensive Plan. Staff said the increase is funded by the Department of Commerce Climate Planning Grant.
The change was included in the consent agenda and approved as part of the consent motion. Staff framed this as the first time cities are required to include a Climate Element in the comp plan and said the amendment reflects expected costs for the new work under legislative requirement (MB 1181).
