Commissioner Harold Collins adopted Resolution R-2026-35 to place a continuation of the Union County Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, a county one percent sales and use tax, on the November 3, 2026 ballot. The resolution cites Part 1 of Article 3 of Chapter 8 of Title 48 of the Official Code of Georgia as the authority for the tax.
Collins told attendees, "this is not a new tax," and the resolution was entered into the meeting record. The resolution was recorded in the minutes and will be forwarded to election officials for placement on the Nov. 3 ballot. The minutes do not specify expected revenue, term length for the continuation, or any specific projects to be funded under the continuation.
