Council approves destruction of Code Enforcement and Animal Control records that met retention periods

Deputy Clerk Mykayla Moody presented a records-destruction request for the Code Enforcement/Animal Control Division. Moody said the first box included animal registrations, trap releases, bite reports, rabies vaccination documentation, owner release forms and notices of violation dated January 2007 through December 2022 that met a one-year retention period after case closure. The second box contained code enforcement citations dated October 2015 through December 2022 that met a three-year retention period after file closure.
Moody recommended approval of the destruction per the New Mexico Municipal Records Retention Schedule. The Council approved the request by a 3-0 vote (moved by Councilor Christopher Ortiz; seconded by Councilor James Runyon).
