Police Chief Jeremy Bonikowske told trustees that new state laws effective June 1 change how ATVs and UTVs may be operated on county and local roads. The village ordinance will be amended to reflect that the village will enforce the new rules; the board asked Jeremy to draft a revised ordinance and asked Clerk Klein to prepare it for approval at the next meeting.
The board discussed that county roads are now open to ATV/UTV traffic under the state changes but noted certain state-level restrictions remain (for example, travel limitations on state highways outside village limits). The minutes record the board's direction to rewrite the ordinance to align with the new state rules.
