Payton Lumpkin, Board President, called the meeting of the Borger Independent School District Board of Trustees to order at 7:05 p.m. and stated, "Let the record show that a quorum of board members is present, that the meeting has been duly called, and that notice of this meeting has been posted in accordance wit 7 the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 551." The meeting took place in the district's Administrative Board Room.
Rick Howard, a consultant with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), spoke with the board and presented a schedule calendar for the district's superintendent search process, which the board received. Trustees in attendance included Payton Lumpkin (president), Cyndee Hickman (secretary), Devon Thompson, Keegan Neill, Robert Bradley and Gabriela Small; Eric Schneck was recorded as absent. Superintendent Chance Welch and Superintendent Secretary Shelby Wright were listed as present. No members of the public offered comments during the public comment period.
The board recorded that there were no personnel items to report at this meeting. The discussion with the TASB consultant focused on the search process and the calendar to guide candidate recruitment and board review; the transcript records that Mr. Howard "spoke with the Board and created a schedule calendar for the Superintendent Search Process." The board recessed later in the evening for a closed executive session and reconvened with no action taken. Next procedural steps for the search were not specified in the transcript.
