At the public input portion of the meeting, Maria Klee and other residents urged the Village and Valencia County to reconsider alignment choices for the proposed east-side extension from Highway 47 to the Manzano Expressway. Klee said residents "became aware of the proposed alignment routes through social media and local news reports" and urged consideration of preserving agricultural lands, historic communities, and acequia systems.
An additional resident asked for greater cooperation between the Village and County on infrastructure planning and raised traffic access and public safety concerns; Annette Castillo pressed council members on water-resource capacity and the long-term sustainability of continued residential growth. Mayor Griego directed speakers to Public Works Director Michael Jaramillo and advised formal requests for records to obtain project history and details.
