During the work session Hernani Goncalves relayed a Parking Authority recommendation to raise fees for additional household visitor parking permits to discourage travelers from using Fort Lee residential streets for long-term parking.
"Mr. Hernani Goncalves suggested a price increase to a household’s additional visitor parking permit to avoid travelers parking in Fort Lee," the minutes state. The Parking Authority intends to authorize an amendment to Ordinance 289-36 (Residential Permit Parking) to establish a $15 daily visitor fee; the item will be placed on the Jan. 15 agenda for formal consideration by the Council.
Council did not vote on the fee at the Jan. 8 work session and requested staff and Authority details on implementation, impacts for residents and enforcement mechanisms before any ordinance introduction.
