Superintendent announces State of the District and October school events

Dr. Jesus H. Chavez, Brownsville ISD superintendent, told trustees Oct. 9 that the district’s State of the District presentation is scheduled for 9 a.m. the following day at the Buchanan Performing Arts Center. "So very quickly, tomorrow we do have the State of the District at 9 a.m.," Chavez said, inviting the public to attend.
Chavez also listed several upcoming events: Oct. 12 — Green Power USA Goblin Race at 8 a.m. at Brite Elementary; Oct. 14 — Columbus Day holiday; Oct. 17 — 25th Annual Elementary Buddy Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. at Sam Stadium; Oct. 19 — Chess Tournament at Paredes; and a series of "Night of Discovery" events across middle and elementary campuses from Oct. 21 through Oct. 30. Chavez presented the schedule as informational announcements; no board action was taken on these items.
