Brownsville ISD trustees direct audits of stadium, tech center, lighting and intercom projects

The Brownsville Independent School District Board of Trustees voted at a special-called meeting Oct. 9 to direct the district’s Audit Department to begin a first phase of audits focused on several major facility projects. "I am going to make a motion to direct the Audit Department to start the first phase of audits," Board President Jessica Gonzalez said, naming Sam Stadium first, followed by the Resaca Technology Center, LED lighting projects and the district intercom systems.
Trustee Eddie Garcia seconded the motion; the board carried it unanimously. Board Member Carlos Elizondo added that auditors and trustees could revisit priorities if new information emerges, saying trustees should be able to "come back and...find priorities" if circumstances change. The motion was recorded in the meeting minutes as approved by the board following reconvening from executive session.
