Bryan ISD approves Pre-K partnership with Texas Workforce Commission and Texas A&M System

The Bryan ISD Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding Sept. 9 to pilot a Pre-K partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas A&M System that would allow co-enrollment of qualifying students at participating childcare facilities.
Executive Director of Special Programs Dr. Jennifer Warren said the MOU builds on state legislation (HB 2729) that explicitly allows districts to partner with childcare providers to co-enroll students and share average-daily-attendance funding. Warren said the arrangement would supply professional development to two childcare classrooms (one session every six weeks) and is expected to produce roughly $75,000 in additional revenue while expanding access to high-quality Pre-K aligned with the district curriculum.
Trustee Ruthie Waller moved approval; Trustee Joel Bryan seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
