The Village Council on April 23 approved Resolution 26-06 authorizing staff to apply for Transportation Program Funding (TPF) for North Los Lentes Road Phase II, extending from Taylor Road to Trujillo. The resolution passed on a 3-0 vote.
Public Works Director Michael Jaramillo described the Phase II scope as a continuation of Phase I and said it would include ADA compliance upgrades, drainage improvements, sidewalks, restriping and repaving. Councilor Gino Romero asked about maintenance of storm drains along the corridor. Mr. Jaramillo said "the Village has already begun cleaning the drains," adding that while the work can be costly a solution has been identified and recent staffing improvements are helping the Village catch up on maintenance.
The application will be submitted through the Department of Transportation; the meeting packet included the project scope and estimated costs, which were not read aloud during the meeting. Council approved the resolution and directed staff to proceed with the funding application.
