Burleson ISD honors students for All‑State and UIL state athletic participation
Summary
The Board recognized students for All‑State band honors and for qualifying/competing at UIL state-level swimming and wrestling events; coaches and the chief of staff presented the recognitions.
During the March 10 meeting the Board recognized local students for music and athletics achievements. Dr. Mikala Hill invited Brent Smith, Centennial High School Band Director, to celebrate Susan Correa Soriano, Zachary Walker and Kayla Simpson for All‑State Band selection by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA).
Burleson High School coaches and Centennial coaches also recognized students who competed at the UIL State Swimming and Diving competition and the UIL State Wrestling meet; the minutes list names of participating students and coaches but do not include competitive results beyond placement for one swimmer (Gavin Markle placed 13th in the 200‑yard individual medley and 18th in the 100‑yard backstroke).
