Burleson ISD approves Texas Education Agency staff development waiver for 2025–26 school year

The Burleson ISD Board of Trustees voted on March 10, 2025 to approve the district’s application for the Texas Education Agency Staff Development waiver for the 2025–26 school year. The waiver allows a district a maximum of 2,100 waiver minutes to be used for staff professional development in place of student instruction.
Board minutes explain that waiver minutes are used in lieu of student instructional minutes and that districts choosing this calendar believe increased staff development can improve instruction, despite resulting in fewer student instructional minutes. The motion was made by Pat Worrell and seconded by Dallas Owen; the vote was unanimous.
