Blanco ISD Board approves staff retention payment, audits and administrative calendar changes

The Blanco Independent School District Board of Trustees met Dec. 15, 2025, at the Blanco High School Library and moved through routine and business items, approving a mid‑year retention payment for all staff and accepting two staff resignations. Board President Larry Kuebel called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.; trustees in attendance were Kuebel, Joe Hernandez, Chad Meyer, Kathy Kersten, Aaron Lux, Stephen Mackey and Erika Sykes.
The board approved a set of administrative items by motion, including the consent agenda (prior meeting minutes and the November 2025 financial report), an interlocal cooperative purchasing agreement with Sourcewell, and two audit-related actions engaging Armstrong (transcript shows inconsistent spellings for the firm) for the 2024–25 and 2025–26 audits. Trustees also approved a budget amendment for the 2025–2026 fiscal year and adopted TASB Policy Update 126 local policy changes. The meeting packet and motions recorded unanimous approval on these items.
In personnel action, the board accepted resignations from Lauren Slubar (special education) and Brandi Hall (fourth grade). The board recessed to executive session at 9:20 p.m. and reconvened to open session at 10:08 p.m. before adjourning at 10:10 p.m.
The superintendent's report included several routine items: TASB Board of Directors business, identification of Trustee Stephen Mackey as ESC‑13 representative, discussion of early release and the winter break schedule, review of a superintendent evaluation instrument, announcement of TASB Governance Camp in Galveston (March 4–7, 2026), and the dedication of the John Moore Bus Barn.
