Selectmen accept two resignations, appoint on‑call animal control officer

Chair read and the board accepted the resignation of James Souza from the Conservation Commission effective June 24, 2026. The board also accepted a retirement letter from Raymond LaFrance, the town’s gas and plumbing inspector, who said he will retire effective Aug. 31, 2026 after 28 years of service. The chair thanked LaFrance for his long service and the board voted to accept the resignation with regret.
Separately, the board approved appointing Joseph Ferreira as an on‑call animal control officer to provide backup coverage for longtime animal control officer Becky Tomlinson. The appointment passed unanimously; the board noted the appointment carries a modest $25 per‑call stipend and that the existing backup arrangement with a Rochester assistant will continue in a supporting role.
