The Acushnet Board of Selectmen approved the transfer of a retail package-store liquor license for the premises at 270 Main Street from Akant Inc. to Shinkara Inc. during its Aug. 5 meeting.
Attorney Mason Matthew, representing the applicant, told the board there would be "no changes to the operation of the store as it is" and that the license transfer request reflects a planned ownership transition. The board opened the public hearing, asked whether any abutters were present (none were), and then closed the hearing. The board moved and voted to approve the transfer by roll call; members welcomed the new owner to town.
The transfer was approved without conditions reported at the hearing. Town staff will finalize licensing paperwork and notify the state licensing authority as required under Chapter 138 procedures referenced during the hearing.
