The Acushnet Board of Selectmen voted unanimously Aug. 5 to approve a petition from Eversource Energy to install roughly 40 feet of underground conduit and two handholds beneath Hope Street to upgrade electric service at 143R South Main Street.
Jessica Elder, representing Eversource, described the work and its purpose: "We are requesting approval for an underground, condo petition on Hope Street," and said the project will increase the customer's service from 100 amps to 200 amps and that "all work within the public way will be returned to the same conditions or better." After a short public comment from a neighbor who said he had no objection, the board closed the hearing, took a roll-call vote and approved the request.
Board members asked Eversource to ensure on‑site restoration and traffic-control details. The motion to approve passed by roll call with all members voting yes. The approval grants the utility permission to place the conduits and handholds as presented; any required permit details or bonding for public‑way restoration will be handled by the town’s permitting and inspection processes.
