Staff says psychiatric rehabilitation services moved into HealthChoices plan; county seeks better discharge coordination with Clarion Psychiatric

Krista Potter, an MH/EI/ID staff member, reported that "psychiatric rehabilitation services have moved into the HealthChoices plan as a required service offering, adding stipulations to the network about offering choice of service providers." Potter said the change also allows MATP to transport individuals to PRS programs and that the state extended PRS eligibility to include programs for the 14–18 age group.
Potter warned some providers statewide have struggled to sustain adolescent PRS programs and cited ongoing work to identify willing local providers. She added that Ms. Rettig has met with the Clinical Director at Clarion Psychiatric to "improve communication with service providers for discharges into the community from inpatient stays," and that those meetings have highlighted areas where better processes can be established.
