District outlines costs and timeline for Sams Stadium work; board must identify additional funds

Chief Financial Officer Alejandro Cespedes told trustees that the only board-allocated amount so far is $1 million and that the estimated cost to remove the track and expand the turf could be in the $1.5–$2 million range.
"The only amount that the Board has allocated is a million dollars, and it was for the track resurfacing or replacement," Cespedes said. He described procurement steps (advertise for 45 days, return to the board for award on Dec. 10 if timeline holds) and warned that underlying underground or drainage issues could raise cost and extend a six- to eight-month schedule for Option One. He also noted the district would likely need to use the unassigned fund balance if additional money is required.
Trustees asked for clarification on procurement and contingencies. Administration said they would run a competitive sealed proposal process for architecture and engineering services and return to the board with award recommendations and final cost estimates once bids are received.
