Bryan ISD reviews assessment redesign amid delay in A–F ratings release
Summary
District leaders reviewed the state's assessment and accountability redesign and told trustees the release of 2023–24 A–F school ratings was postponed again because of litigation. Central Office administrators will partner with campuses for data reviews and campus walks to support achievement and climate.
Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Dr. Barbara Ybarra provided trustees with a historical overview of state assessments and the recent accountability redesign and reported that the anticipated public release of 2023–24 A–F ratings was postponed due to a lawsuit.
Dr. Ybarra and Executive Directors Dr. Brian Merrell and Linda Montoya said the district will deploy a Central Office team to partner with campus administrators to analyze data, perform campus walks, and focus on student achievement, climate and family engagement. The team’s work is intended as targeted support in the absence of finalized public A–F ratings.
Trustees received the update as informational; no action was requested or taken during the meeting. Administration emphasized the need to continue local data review and campus support until state accountability results are released.
